Nagaon Student Dies After Falling Into Kolong River

Guwahati: A tragic incident occurred in the Nagaon district of Assam on May 19, resulting in the death of a Class 9 student. The victim, identified as Khushi Ghosh, was a student at the Nagaon Government Girls High School.

Reports indicate that the student fell from a bridge over the Kolong River near the ASTC area during the morning hours. Bystanders quickly intervened to pull her from the water and transported her to the Nagaon Bhogeswari Phukani Civil Hospital for emergency medical care. Upon arrival, medical staff declared the student dead.

Local law enforcement has launched an investigation to determine the exact circumstances behind the fall. While some preliminary reports have suggested the possibility of family-related stress, officials have not confirmed the motive or stated definitively whether the event was accidental or intentional.
