Guwahati: Nagaon Police conducted a late-night operation in Bhakatgaon on June 4 that resulted in the seizure of a significant cache of illegal substances. Officials confirmed that the raid led to the recovery of 778 intoxicating tablets and 1.92 grams of heroin alongside 53,600 rupees in cash.

Authorities arrested two suspects, Mofidul Islam and Jasmin Sultana, during the operation. Police believe the pair acted as key players in the local distribution of heroin. Regarding the ongoing investigation, officials stated, "Police are continuing their investigation to determine the source of the drugs and identify any wider network linked to the operation."

The seized items are now in police custody as part of a formal criminal case. This enforcement action aligns with a broader anti-narcotics campaign currently active across Assam to combat substance abuse and trafficking operations in the state.
