Nagaland Youth Sports Department Marks 12th International Yoga Day

Kohima: The Nagaland Department of Youth Resources and Sports held its 12th International Day of Yoga at Indira Gandhi Stadium in Kohima on June 22. Scores of students and officials joined the event. Participants included members from the National Service Scheme, National Cadet Corps, Bharat Scouts and Guides, and the local sports academy.

Yoga instructor Lawrence led the morning session. He centered the practice on the official theme: Yoga for healthy ageing. Lawrence highlighted the physical and mental rewards of the discipline. "Yoga keep body fit and healthy and keep mind, heart and soul peace," he stated during the demonstration.

The United Nations established the global observance in 2014. It pushes for holistic living and physical fitness. While the official date is June 21, the Kohima event extended the celebration to ensure broad participation. Organizers intend to keep promoting these healthy habits throughout the year.
