Kohima: Nagaland took home second runner up honors for Best Performing State in the Small State Category at the PMFME Conclave 2026. The Ministry of Food Processing Industries hosted the event at the India Habitat Centre in New Delhi on August 24 and 25. Union Minister Chirag Paswan presented the hardware to the state delegation. Deputy Director Zakielatuo Yiese led the team that accepted the award.
Individual wins followed the state recognition. Jessy Jurry, Functional Manager at the District Industries Centre in Kohima, secured the Best Performing District Nodal Officer award. Phek District Resource Person Rukuveto Lohe earned the title of Best Performing DRP. The Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission also received accolades for its performance, with State Programme Manager Lentinaro Imchen accepting the honor.
These wins highlight the state’s drive to grow micro food processing businesses. The Department of Food Processing credited the success to a wide network of stakeholders. The state official report stated, "The multiple recognitions are a reflection of the collective efforts and commitment of the Department of Food Processing, Department of Industries & Commerce, SPMU, NSRLM, DAY-NULM, DNOs, DRPs, banking fraternity and all other stakeholders who continue to work together to support entrepreneurs and strengthen Nagaland micro food processing sector." Officials hope the momentum will sustain local livelihoods and product development.
