Nagaland renames Mokokchung tech institute to Government Polytechnic

Kohima: Nagaland officials have officially renamed the Institute of Communication and Information Technology. The facility is now called Government Polytechnic, Mokokchung. It is a done deal.

The state government pushed the change through following an approval from the State Cabinet. A formal letter from the Cabinet Secretariat dated June 15, 2026, confirmed the decision. Higher and Technical Education Department authorities issued a notification to make it official.

The new title applies to every administrative and official matter immediately. The State DIPR notified all departments and establishments to update their records. They must take necessary action to reflect the shift in nomenclature. The government stated: "The new name will take effect from the date of issuance of the notification and shall apply to all official and administrative matters."
