Nagaland Prepares Media Strategy for Census 2027

Kohima: The Inter Media Publicity Coordination Committee met at Akashvani Kohima on June 9 to finalize outreach strategies for the upcoming Census 2027. The committee, established by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, aims to align state and central government departments to improve public communication and curb misinformation.

Dr. K. Miachieo, the Director of Census Operations in Nagaland, announced that the House Listing Operation will take place throughout July 2026. Prior to this, citizens can utilize a self-enumeration portal from June 16 to June 30. The state has mobilized more than 6,100 enumerators and supervisors to manage the workload.

Officials plan to run an extensive awareness campaign across print, radio, television, and digital media. To reach diverse communities, materials will be presented in English, Nagamese, and 15 local dialects. Emphasising the necessity of high-quality data for regional growth, Dr. Miachieo noted: "Emphasising the importance of accurate census data for effective development planning, he urged citizens to cooperate with officials and provide correct information."

P. Sophie, head of the PIB office in Kohima, presided over the meeting and called for a theme-based strategy that utilizes modern communication tools. He stressed that departments must work closely with the PIB to ensure government programs are communicated clearly and to address any public confusion effectively.
