Kohima: Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio convened a high-level meeting at his residential complex in Kohima on Friday to evaluate the state's readiness for the approaching monsoon season. The session brought together senior ministers and officials to review meteorological forecasts provided by the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority.

A primary focus of the discussion centered on the vulnerability of key transit routes, specifically NH-29 between Dimapur and Kohima and NH-02 between Kohima and Mao. Representatives from the Public Works Department and the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited outlined maintenance schedules and efforts to mitigate landslide risks on these critical roads.

Emergency agencies, including Home Guards, Civil Defence, and the State Disaster Response Force, confirmed that resource deployment plans are in place to address potential crises. Simultaneously, the Health and Family Welfare Department confirmed the availability of essential medical supplies and staffing, while the Food and Civil Supplies Department ensured that basic commodities remain stocked for the coming months.

Chief Minister Rio urged all departments to improve inter-agency coordination and keep response machinery ready for immediate deployment. He reaffirmed that the government is committed to prioritizing public safety and minimizing the impact of weather-related disruptions across the state.
