Nagaland Power Department Slates Three-Hour Blackout for July 13

Kohima: Four Nagaland districts face a three-hour power blackout this Saturday. Dimapur, Chümoukedima, Peren, and Niuland will go dark on July 13 from 5:30 am to 8:30 am. Transmission crews need the downtime to fix 132kV isolators at the Nagarjan sub-station.

Executive Engineer SI Asangba Tikhir confirmed the work targets two transmission lines feeding the region. “During the said period there will be complete shutdown of power supply to Dimapur, Chümoukedima, Peren and Niuland Districts,” the notice stated. Officials asked the public to bear with the service gap.

Separately, seven Dimapur neighborhoods remain in the dark after a weekend failure. A major technical defect crippled a 10 MVA transformer at the Supermarket sub-station. Residents in Half Nagarjan, Nejati Colony, Police Colony, Bank Colony, Ura Villa, Circuit House, and the Supermarket area are affected.

Executive Engineer Lhuvoyi promised repair crews are working around the clock. The department asks for patience while they finish the job.
