Kohima: Nagaland Police have called on the public to maintain peace and communal harmony as unrest continues in a neighboring state. Authorities issued a formal appeal for residents to remain vigilant and avoid sharing unverified information that could destabilize the region.
Officials specifically cautioned against spreading rumors or provocative content on social media platforms. The police noted that the rise of artificially generated content makes it easier to distribute misleading narratives that could harm ethnic and inter-community relations.
Individuals who circulate inflammatory material or fake news will face legal consequences. Potential penalties fall under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the IT Act, and other relevant state laws. Security forces are currently monitoring the situation and have implemented necessary measures to ensure law and order remains intact across the state.
