Nagaland Opens Applications for Food Irradiation Infrastructure Grants

Kohima: The Directorate of Food Processing in Nagaland wants entrepreneurs to build multiproduct food irradiation units. This push falls under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana, a federal effort to boost cold chain infrastructure. Officials set these rules on August 6, 2024, following guidelines from the Ministry of Food Processing Industries.

Cash is on the table. General applicants get 35 percent of their project costs covered. SC, ST, Farmer Producer Organisations, Self Help Groups, and businesses in difficult areas qualify for a 50 percent subsidy. The payout hits a ceiling at 10 crore rupees for most groups, including NGOs, public sector units, and private firms.

Interested parties must log in to the official portal to apply. The Directorate issued a firm warning about the process: "No physical submission of proposals or applications through any other means will be accepted." Candidates have until 5 pm on August 31, 2026, to get their paperwork submitted online. Full details remain available on the Ministry website.
