Nagaland Launches Mission Coffee to Boost Local Prosperity and Agriculture

Kohima: Nagaland Chief Minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio, alongside Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region Jyotiraditya Scindia, officially inaugurated the Mission Coffee initiative for Nagaland on May 18. The launch took place during a virtual event aimed at highlighting the state's potential to become a significant player in the coffee industry.

The initiative, titled Planting Hope, Prosperity and Pride, is designed to enhance the livelihoods of local farmers while strengthening the agricultural economy of the region. By focusing on coffee production, the state government intends to leverage Nagaland's unique climate and topography to create high quality harvests that can compete in national and global markets.

During the session, the officials discussed long term strategies to improve infrastructure and provide technical support to cultivators. The leadership emphasized that this mission represents a strategic shift toward sustainable farming practices, ensuring that coffee becomes a cornerstone of Nagaland's future development and economic self reliance.
