Kohima: Nagaland began the first phase of Census 2027 on Wednesday. This initial stage focuses on house listing and runs through July 30. The state-wide process started at Lok Bhavan in Kohima. This is the official residence of Governor Nand Kishore Yadav.
Kohima Deputy Commissioner B Henok Buchem led the team of census officials. Trained enumerators and supervisors will visit every household over the next month. They are checking housing conditions, basic amenities, and household assets. The district administration confirmed that they will keep all gathered information private. Buchem stated, "trained enumerators and supervisors would visit every household in the district over the next 30 days to collect details on housing conditions, availability of basic amenities and household assets as part of the nationwide census process."
Officials urged village leaders and citizens to cooperate with the workers. They need accurate data to complete the count. Work also started in Noklak district this week. SDO Civil Vikhoto Richa began the count at the home of Deputy Commissioner P Mono Khiamniungan. Local authorities across the region now ask all stakeholders to support the census teams to ensure a smooth operation.
