Kohima: Nagaland Governor Nand Kishore Yadav recently praised the Post Matric Scholarship Scheme for its role in supporting the academic aspirations of students from the state. During a special event held at Dr. Imkongliba Hall in Kohima, the governor met with student beneficiaries to discuss the importance of education as a primary driver of progress and empowerment.
The session took place during the Janjatiya Garima Utsav celebration, which honors the legacy of tribal freedom fighter Birsa Munda. Yadav encouraged the students to prioritize discipline, character, and hard work. He noted that academic excellence must be balanced with honesty and social responsibility to ensure students contribute effectively to public welfare.
Looking toward the national goal of a developed India by 2047, the governor emphasized that youth must focus on skill development and entrepreneurship. He suggested that focusing on vocational training, tourism, and agriculture could help solve unemployment issues in Nagaland. He also pointed to the necessity of infrastructure development, unity, and lasting peace as foundational elements for the state's future success.
The event was organized by the Department of Higher and Technical Education and the Department of Tribal Affairs. Government officials and students from various colleges attended the session to discuss how these educational opportunities can help transform the region.
