Kohima: Nagaland Higher Education and Tourism Minister Temjen Imna Along inaugurated a new academic building at Phek Government College on Thursday. The project was completed under the Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan initiative. During the keynote address, the minister emphasized that personal accountability is essential for academic growth in the state.
Addressing the crowd, the minister noted the significance of the expansion for the institution's future. He stated, "Taking honest responsibility and stewardship is the new mantra for a transformed educational system in Nagaland." He encouraged both students and faculty to utilize their resources to serve the state and the country.
Sentiyanger Pongen, Additional Secretary and SPD for PM-USHA, discussed how improved infrastructure supports the goals of the National Education Policy 2020. He described the new facility as a public asset and urged the community to help maintain the building. Pongen also encouraged stakeholders to report any construction discrepancies to ensure the quality of state projects.
The event began with a dedicatory prayer from Pastor Vepreta Lasuh of the Bible Hill Baptist Church. Dr. K. Zumomo Ovung provided the welcome address, describing the building as a catalyst for excellence and creativity. Vice Principal Shepalu Suyie closed the event by offering a vote of thanks to all participants.
