Nagaland Courts Launch Digital Systems for Evidence and RTI Requests

Kohima: Nagaland courts are going digital. The eMalkhana portal for district courts goes live on October 26. This system tracks seized items and case evidence across the state. The Gauhati High Court Kohima Bench ordered the move on October 8. Registrar Ajongba Imchen signed the directive. Officials will now use QR codes to manage property, arms, and exhibits. You can find the system at http://emalkhana.dcnlservices.in/.

The courts also opened an online portal for Right to Information requests. Citizens can now file appeals, pay fees, and track status reports from their computers. The site is already live at https://rti.dcnlservices.in/. It connects users directly to Public Information Officers. This makes the information process faster.

Justice Devashis Baruah launched both projects on September 25. The program took place in Kohima alongside the Nagaland State Legal Services Authority. The Kohima Bench previously launched its own RTI portal on February 29, 2024. That move made it the first public institution in the state to digitize these records. Regarding the broader digital push, the court aims for "simplifying record management and improving transparency."
