Kohima: Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio pushed his sepaktakraw team to aim for the Olympics. He spoke at a send-off ceremony Monday at the Nagaland Cricket Association conference room in Sovima, Chumoukedima. The event honored local athletes bound for the 20th Asian Games.
Rio praised the group for their grit. Consistency drives success. He told the team, "Your talent, hard work and dedication had earned them the opportunity to represent the country at the national and international levels."
The squad features women players Menenu Tsukru and Seyiekhrieno Tepa alongside coaches Puleno Neikha and Pungotolu Puro. These athletes will join the Indian women's team. They head to Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, for games running from September 19 to October 4, 2026.
This marks a major milestone for the state. Nagaland has sent sepaktakraw representatives to every Asian Games since 2010. Rio expects them to make the nation proud.
