Kohima: Young protesters are taking to the streets. The Fed-Up Nagas will host a public rally at the Agri Expo in Chümoukedima on June 27. It starts at 1:00 pm. Organizers expect leaders from the NSCN (IM) and both chapters of the Working Committee, Naga National Political Groups to speak at the event.
The group moved the venue from the Naga Shopping Arcade to the Agri Expo to address security issues. Kuhoto Naga, a member of the organizing body, explained the change. "Due to so many reasons, especially security reasons, we have to shift the venue. We apologize to everyone for any inconvenience caused," he said.
Protesters want the government to act on the Framework Agreement and the Agreed Position. These deals have sat idle for years. The organizers claim this movement acts independently of any political party or established institution. They insist they are only fighting for their future and economic survival.
The group relies on small, voluntary donations to cover costs. There will be no special treatment for attendees. No VIP seating exists. Organizers urged people to bring their own water and umbrellas because funds are tight. Hiketo Naga clarified the group's goal, stating the rally is not meant to create division among the people. They want residents to set aside two hours to push for an end to decades of political uncertainty.
