Naga Village Guard Demands End to Ceasefire Following Targeted Attacks

Imphal: The Western Command of the Naga Village Guard has issued a formal condemnation of ongoing violence against Naga civilians. The group is calling for the immediate cancellation of the Suspension of Operations agreement with the Kuki National Front (Progressive), accusing the outfit of orchestrating a campaign of targeted killings.

This demand follows the recent murder of six Naga individuals. The organization noted that the victims were brutally killed and their bodies mutilated, adding that two of the deceased were pastors. According to the group, the Kuki National Front (Progressive) and its proxy, KNF (Nehlun), have ignored public outcry and continue to strike at local settlements.

A fresh assault occurred Saturday morning at Langka Naga Village in the Kangpokpi district. The organization reported that attackers utilized heavy weapons and explosives during the raid at 8:40 am. Intelligence reports now suggest that additional villages along the IT Road remain under imminent threat as part of what the group described as a larger, systematic campaign. The statement declared, "failure to act decisively would further erode public confidence in the administration."

The Naga Village Guard has urged both the state and central governments to intervene immediately to protect residents. Officials are now facing increased pressure to hold the accused militants accountable and ensure the safety of communities, as the organization reiterates its own pledge to defend Naga villages from further aggression.
