Kohima: Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK) has achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first district hospital in Nagaland to receive National MusQan Certification. The hospital earned the recognition on May 18 following a rigorous assessment conducted on April 17 and 18, 2026, under the National Quality Assurance Standards program.
National assessors Samiran Sarma and Krishna Kumari Sharma evaluated the facility, supported by nodal officers Dr. Asano Sophie, Dr. Imnanoktsung Longchar, and Dr. Longri Kichu. The hospital’s Paediatrics Department, led by Dr. Rüütuo-ü Sorhie, Dr. Khriemenuo Koza, and Dr. Avono Sophie, secured an overall score of 93.11 percent.
Specific departmental performance included scores of 96.32 percent for the Special Newborn Care Unit, 95.81 percent for the Nutrition Rehabilitation Centre, 91.28 percent for the outpatient department, and 88.68 percent for the paediatric ward. Patient satisfaction ratings reached 84 percent.
The MusQan initiative is a Government of India program designed to elevate healthcare standards for children up to age 12. By focusing on infection control, emergency treatment, and family-centered care, the program aims to reduce preventable child mortality. NHAK officials stated that the award highlights the dedication of their staff and their ongoing commitment to improving paediatric service delivery.
