Imphal: Tensions flared in Manipur's Noney district on Tuesday morning after suspected armed Kuki militants attacked three Naga farmers. The incident occurred around 9 a.m. near Goitang Naga village in the Khoupum subdivision.

The victims, identified as 60-year-old Kagundai Riamei, his 55-year-old wife Lungdailu, and their 35-year-old son Gailatou, were traveling to their fields when the assault began. While initial reports suggested one of the farmers had gone missing during the chaos, all three eventually returned to safety.

The Khoupum Area Villages Authority Council stated that combined village volunteers intervened to drive back the militants and protect the civilians. Local organizations have condemned the violence and are calling on the government to strengthen security across the region. Residents expressed growing concern over the safety of their communities and warned that continued provocations against peaceful citizens will not be tolerated.
