Kohima: The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) officially opened its new District Development Manager (DDM) office in Mon on Saturday. Deputy Commissioner Wennyei Konyak inaugurated the facility alongside various banking representatives, local officials, and development partners.
During the ceremony, Konyak underscored the significant potential of the region. He called for a stronger convergence of government programs to ensure these initiatives deliver a deeper impact for the local population. Konyak expressed optimism regarding the new office, noting that it would improve coordination between the bank and district stakeholders to facilitate more effective developmental work.
Deputy General Manager O.P. Mounglang reaffirmed the bank's dedication to rural progress. He stated, "NABARD’s role as the apex development financial institution dedicated to promoting sustainable and inclusive rural development." This mission focuses on enhancing local livelihoods, expanding infrastructure, and improving the flow of credit to rural areas.
The event included contributions from representatives of the State Bank of India, the Nagaland State Cooperative Bank, and the Eleutheros Christian Society. DDM Abigail Rai opened the session by outlining the various development projects NABARD currently supports in the area. The program wrapped up with an interactive session aimed at fostering closer cooperation between local agencies and financial institutions.
