Shillong: More than 400 military personnel from 12 nations are currently participating in the inaugural Exercise PRAGATI 2026. The multinational training event began on May 20 in Umroi, Meghalaya, and aims to boost regional peace, security, and military interoperability through professional collaboration.

The exercise features integrated teams of soldiers from all participating countries. Over the past few days, these troops have navigated challenging semi-mountainous and jungle terrain to refine their tactical skills. Activities included slithering operations, rock craft, and various ambush drills. Soldiers also improved their combat proficiency through jungle lane shooting and specialized marksmanship competitions involving AK-203 rifles and sniper training.

Beyond rigorous field drills, the program emphasizes building military bonds and mutual trust. Participants have engaged in sporting events such as basketball, volleyball, and tug of war to strengthen teamwork. According to officials, the exercise serves as a platform for partner nations to address shared security challenges through collective training and the exchange of professional expertise.
