Guwahati: Rajya Sabha MP Tai Tagak hit the ground in Lower Siang on July 12 to survey the wreckage left by flash floods. He toured Koyu Circle, where rising water destroyed homes and wiped out land across 20 villages. Nari-Koyu MLA Tojir Kadu and various district officials joined him to assess the grim scene.
The MP reached into his pockets to help. Tagak announced a 7 lakh rupee donation as immediate interim relief for the families who lost everything. He spent the day talking to displaced residents about their needs. The situation is dire.
Tagak plans to lean on the Union government for a special financial package to fix the infrastructure and help the constituency recover. He wants a united front. He will ask Lok Sabha MPs Tapir Gao and Kiren Rijiju, along with representatives from Assam, to help him demand more cash from New Delhi. Tagak said, "I would urge the Centre to sanction a special financial package for the flood-hit Nari-Koyu Assembly constituency to support relief, rehabilitation, and reconstruction efforts."
Heavy rains continue to batter Arunachal Pradesh. Infrastructure is crumbling and farms are underwater. Normal life remains on hold as the region fights to rebuild.
