MP Tai Tagak Donates 11 Months Salary for Arunachal Flood Relief

Itanagar: Rajya Sabha MP Tai Tagak pledged 11 months of his salary, totaling over Rs 11 lakh, to help flood victims in Arunachal Pradesh. He visited the disaster zone on Saturday, July 4, to survey damage caused by a massive cloudburst on June 24. Tagak traveled by road to Poosa to inspect wrecked schools and ruined homes.

He toured the district alongside Deputy Commissioner Shweta Nagarkoti Mehta, Yachuli MLA Toko Tatung, and other regional lawmakers. The group reviewed relief camps and checked on the progress of restoration work at the NEEPCO colony and surrounding flood zones. Tagak called for unity during the recovery. "I appeal to people from all sections of society to extend assistance to the affected residents, urging them to rise above considerations of caste, religion and regional differences in the interest of humanitarian support," he said.

Yachuli MLA Toko Tatung confirmed that relief supplies reached more than 100 families in Poosa, Yazali, and Potin. He noted that the state government provided full cooperation despite his position as an opposition legislator. Officials and recovery crews remain on the ground to clear debris and assist displaced residents.
