Morigaon DIET to Host International Environment Seminar for World Environment Day

Guwahati: The District Institute of Education and Training in Morigaon, Assam, is partnering with Cotton University and Bodoland University to host an international seminar on June 5 and 6. Held in honor of World Environment Day, the event is titled Environment at the Crossroads: Balancing Development with Sustainability.

The two-day program will feature both online and in-person sessions focused on climate change, biodiversity, and the role of education in ecological preservation. DIET Morigaon Principal Kishore Kumar Das will open the inaugural session. Keynote speaker and environmentalist Jadav Payeng will lead a group of expert presenters, including Jahnavi Barua Wolf and Nilotpol Mahanta, alongside various international and domestic academics.

Participants will explore topics such as indigenous knowledge systems and practical climate solutions. During the event, DIET Morigaon will officially launch its annual educational journal, Rashmi. Organizers have also invited Assam's Education Minister, the Secretary of the Education Department, and the Director of SCERT to attend the closing session.

Senior lecturer Sanghita Malini Barua is coordinating the event with assistance from faculty and staff. The seminar aims to provide a collaborative space for scholars and educators to address the complexities of modern development and environmental health.
