Mon Power Department Addresses Billing Errors Caused by Technical Glitch

Kohima: The Department of Power in Mon has addressed concerns regarding recent electricity bills that showed inflated charges. Officials stated that a temporary technical malfunction within the TUPS computer billing system caused several months of accumulated readings to appear in a single billing cycle.

The department apologized for the confusion and confirmed that the issue is not connected to the installation of smart meters. It cautioned residents against spreading rumors about the new metering technology, noting that the error was strictly limited to data processing and bill generation.

Work to correct these billing discrepancies is currently underway. The department expects future invoices to accurately reflect standard monthly consumption. Consumers who have specific concerns or require assistance are encouraged to visit the Electrical Sub Division office in Mon to resolve individual account issues.
