Kohima: The District Health Society in Mon hosted a two-day workshop on June 11 and 12, 2026, aimed at improving local medical services and meeting National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS). Held at the CMO conference hall, the event focused on the government goal of achieving full NQAS certification for all health facilities by December 2026.

Deputy CMO Dr. Aonungdok Tushi Ao inaugurated the event, stressing the importance of standardizing care. He urged medical staff to remain engaged throughout the process, stating, "actively engage, clarify doubts and contribute towards building a culture of quality in healthcare delivery."

The training covered several technical areas including data management, prescription audits, gap analysis, and patient satisfaction surveys. Participants also received a briefing from NQAS external assessor Edwina Periera via video conference, providing insights into national best practices. To ensure facility safety, personnel from the Fire and Emergency Services Department provided hands-on training for managing emergency equipment like LPG cylinders and fire extinguishers.

The workshop concluded with a collaborative effort to develop action plans for meeting certification targets. Facilitators for the sessions included Dr. Aonungdok Tushi Ao, staff nurse Ojungsangla, and District Programme Manager Yeango.
