Mokokchung and Kiphire Ramp Up Fight Against Drugs

Kohima: Administrators in Mokokchung and Kiphire are cracking down on drugs. They are running awareness drives and tightening coordination between local agencies to back the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan mission.

Mokokchung hosted a walkathon on June 24. It went from the Deputy Commissioner’s office to the local public ground. Senior Superintendent of Police Vesupra Kezo started the event for students and officials. Assistant Commissioner Dr. Madhavi R told the crowd the goal is to stop drug abuse through community effort. She stated, "The initiative seeks to raise awareness on drug abuse prevention and encourage collective community action against substance abuse."

Officials finished the day with a mass signature campaign. Everyone signed to promise they would keep the area drug-free.

Kiphire took a harder look at the law. The District Narcotics Coordination Committee met on June 23 to review arrests and seizures. ADC Longdiba L Sangtam led the talk. Police Superintendent Chinese Chakhesang helped review the recent data.

The group wants better intel sharing between departments. They are also watching how local shops sell prescription medicine. Leaders want village councils, churches, and youth groups to watch the streets and report drug peddling.
