Imphal: Prime Minister Narendra Modi showcased India’s cultural depth during his latest visit to the United Arab Emirates by presenting a curated collection of artisanal gifts. The exchange featured handlooms, crafts, and GI-tagged agricultural products meant to deepen the strategic partnership between the two nations.
Gifts presented to the UAE leadership included Manipur’s famous Chak Hao black rice, Meghalaya’s sweet pineapples, and Gujarat’s aromatic Kesar mangoes. These food items highlight the agricultural heritage of different Indian regions. Modi also provided handcrafted goods, such as a silver chest featuring intricate Karimnagar Filigree work and a Rajasthan ceremonial dagger decorated with traditional gold and silver Koftgari art.
Other cultural items included Maheshwari silk fabric from Madhya Pradesh and a piece of Rogan painting from Kutch that displays the Tree of Life motif. These gifts served as a backdrop to serious diplomatic efforts, as Modi and UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan finalized agreements focused on regional security and energy stability. The visit successfully blended diplomatic cooperation with the promotion of India’s diverse artistic traditions.
