Kohima: MLA Y. Mhonbemo Humtsoe has launched a personal initiative to repair a critical road stretch near Mother Church in Wokha. This project addresses the long-standing poor condition of the route, which has caused significant hardship for local commuters and residents. The road serves as a primary link for schools, churches, government offices, and the National Highway.
Community leaders have welcomed the private effort, noting that it bypasses government funding schemes to provide a swift solution. The construction route connects key locations, including the Block Office and the SP Office, while supporting daily traffic from nearly eight different colonies. Local representatives highlighted the importance of this infrastructure for the entire town.
Work on the section between Mother Church and the DBHSS area is scheduled to begin in full swing on May 25. Officials expect the construction to last for one week and have asked the public to be patient during this period. Local leadership also requested that residents avoid littering in the area, as debris and clogged drains often lead to the rapid deterioration of road surfaces.
