Aizawl: Mizoram wants federal cash for bamboo and ginger plants. Commerce and Industries Minister F. Rodingliana met with Union officials in New Delhi on Friday to pitch the plan. He pushed for modern processing gear and better marketing to turn his state into what he calls the "Ginger Capital of India."

Rodingliana wants the Centre to back bamboo expansion. He specifically eyed the textile and paper sectors for new facilities. The minister also noted that the Kaladan Multi-Modal Transit Transport Project is almost done. He told the Board of Trade it is time to build a roadmap for regional trade.

The state currently lacks its own MSME support office. Entrepreneurs must reach out to Agartala for help. Rodingliana urged the government to set up a dedicated Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development and Facilitation Office in Mizoram. Commerce and Industries Secretary Dr. H. Lianzela joined him to press the case for better industrial infrastructure.
