Aizawl: Mizoram's lone Rajya Sabha MP, Vanlalvena, recently met with senior World Bank officials in Washington DC to secure funding and technical expertise for various development projects. During the meeting, he spoke with four representatives, including Executive Director Parameswar Iyer, to discuss initiatives tailored to the specific geographical and economic needs of his home state.

The proposed projects include building flyovers in Aizawl and installing solar-powered portable outdoor stairways to improve connectivity within the hilly capital. The MP also pushed for support in developing bamboo-based, agro-based, and forest-based industries to boost the local economy and create sustainable livelihoods for residents.

Additionally, the proposal featured a plan for multipurpose rainwater harvesting systems to address water management challenges. World Bank representatives reacted positively to the presentation, noting that the suggested projects appear feasible and warrant further exploration.
