Aizawl: Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma visited Hmunpui on Tuesday to participate in a thanksgiving ceremony, where he officially inaugurated several key development initiatives aimed at improving local infrastructure and rural economic growth. The Chief Minister was accompanied by local MLA H. Lalzirliana during the event, which celebrated the completion of a newly blacktopped road and the establishment of a health sub-centre.

The road project, which serves as a vital connection for the village, was reconstructed under the SASCI 2025-26 Part-I scheme at a cost of Rs 3 crore. This initiative was prioritized to address urgent repair requirements on the previous PMGSY route. Additionally, the new health sub-centre, complete with dedicated staff quarters, was funded through the NABARD RIDF-30 program to enhance medical accessibility for residents.

During the ceremony, the Chief Minister oversaw the distribution of 24 hectares of rubber plantations to local families as part of the Chief Minister’s Rubber Mission. Inspired by the successful economic model in Tripura, this state-wide initiative aims to plant 51 lakh saplings across 11,500 hectares over the next five years. Hmunpui has been selected as a beneficiary in the second phase of this mission.

Lalduhoma emphasized the government's commitment to the development of the region, noting that surveys are already underway for a new power supply line to improve utility services. Local representatives, including MLA H. Lalzirliana and Village Council Vice President H. Lalduhsanga, expressed their appreciation for the government support, highlighting that these projects will significantly improve daily life and provide sustainable livelihood opportunities for the community.
