Ministers inspect flood destruction in Arunachal Pradesh

Itanagar: Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan toured Keyi Panyor district on Tuesday to witness the wreckage left by flash floods. A cloudburst on June 23 triggered massive landslides across the region. The disaster flattened homes and chewed up public roads.

Chouhan joined Union Minister Kiren Rijiju and Chief Minister Pema Khandu for the assessment. They flew over the impact zone before hitting the ground at the NEEPCO colony in Possa. The team also checked on displaced families huddled in local relief camps.

Connectivity on National Highway-13 remains broken. Public infrastructure suffered heavy hits as mud and water tore through residential quarters. Officials are now tallying the total losses to plan the recovery.

Chouhan promised the central government will back the state in the coming months. He told residents, "full support from the Central Government for relief, rehabilitation and restoration efforts" is coming. Both governments plan to work together to restore the area as quickly as possible.
