Mima Village Wins Top Nutrition Award in Kohima

Kohima: Mima Gram Panchayat took home the Suposhit Gram Panchayat Abhiyaan award in Kohima on June 26. MLA Wangpang Konyak handed over the prize at the Capital Convention Centre. The village earned a 1 lakh rupee cash grant for its work.

The ceremony coincided with the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. Officials from the Nagaland Social Welfare Department noted the government program aims to boost local health outcomes. It targets specific populations by tightening how nutrition services run on the ground.

Additional Secretary Olemjungla Aier said the program pushes communities to adopt better habits. She added, "It serves as a powerful catalyst for change, inspiring communities to embrace sustainable practices and innovative approaches in their fight against malnutrition through positive competition."

The initiative challenges local Anganwadis to hit specific infrastructure and service benchmarks. It forces leaders to get serious about fixing nutrition gaps in their own backyards. The state wants to motivate staff to act fast and end hunger for good.
