Kohima: Spear Corps and Assam Rifles gathered Sunday at the Kenguruse War Memorial in Nerhema Pheza to mark the 27th Memorial Day for Captain N Kenguruse. Military leaders joined family members to honor the Maha Vir Chakra awardee who died during the Kargil War. The event drew a large crowd of veterans, villagers, and NCC cadets.

Lieutenant General Girish Kalia led the wreath-laying ceremony. He stood before the memorial to pay respects to the fallen soldier. Major General Harinder Singh Mavi and various local dignitaries also participated in the service. The day included a prayer, a eulogy, and a film about the officer's military career.

Kalia honored the parents of the hero during the event. A pipe band and soldiers performed a ceremonial march-past to close the proceedings. The general spoke directly to the crowd about the weight of such service. "Captain N Kenguruse’s legacy of courage, sacrifice and selfless service would continue to inspire generations," Kalia said.

The Spear Corps emphasized its ongoing connection with the people of Nagaland. Officials pledged to keep the memory of the region's bravehearts alive. The ceremony served as a reminder of the cost of duty.
