Shillong: A two-day workshop kicked off Thursday at the Meghalaya Teachers Training Academy in Shillong. Twenty teachers and DIET nodal officers are learning to build video content for PM eVIDYA DTH TV channels. This marks the first face-to-face session for the program in the state.
The Educational Technology Cell of the Directorate of Educational Research and Training organized the event alongside the Central Institute of Educational Technology, NCERT. Education Commissioner and Secretary R. Rapthap opened the workshop. He stressed the need for digital tools in the classroom. He said, "PM eVIDYA is a vital tool to bridge learning gaps and ensure equitable access to resources across Meghalaya, while also helping overcome language barriers."
DERT Director JU Kharpuri called for culturally relevant lessons that match the local curriculum. She pushed attendees to fill the five DTH channels, numbered 123 through 127, with high-quality material. Prof. Amarendra P. Behera of CIET-NCERT praised the state for its digital push during a virtual address, while State Nodal Officer Dr. David M. Nongrum explained the channel assignments.
Experts from New Delhi are running the technical training. Prof. Abhay Kumar, Akhilesh Verma, and Monika Bhakuni are guiding the group through script recording, video editing, graphics, and copyright standards. Participants spend the two days mastering these tools to improve digital instruction.
