Meghalaya State Challenges Bail Order for Sonam Raghuvanshi

Shillong: Advocate General Amit Kumar concluded the state's arguments on Monday regarding a criminal petition to revoke the bail of Sonam Raghuvanshi. The case, heard by Justice Wanlura Diengdoh at the High Court of Meghalaya, moves to its next stage on June 3 when defense lawyers are scheduled to present their arguments.

The state filed the petition after opposing an April 27, 2026, ruling by the Sessions Judge of East Khasi Hills District. That initial order granted bail to Raghuvanshi under specific conditions in connection with Sessions Case No. 41 of 2025. Prosecutors are now asking the High Court to quash the lower court's decision and officially cancel the bail.
