Meghalaya Shifts Durga Puja Holiday Dates for 2026

Shillong: Meghalaya officials just changed the calendar. The state government moved the holidays for Maha Navami and Maha Dashami in 2026.

The General Administration Department issued the update on October 6. Originally set for October 19 and 20, the days off will now fall on October 20 and 21, 2026. This shift applies to both General Holidays and those observed under the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881.

C.V.D. Diengdoh, Commissioner and Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, signed off on the order. His department stated: "The holidays earlier fixed for October 19 and 20 will now be observed on October 20 and 21, 2026, respectively." The new schedule is now in effect.
