Shillong: Meghalaya secured their place in the quarter-finals of the Swami Vivekananda U-20 Men’s National Football Championship 2026 after defeating Rajasthan 3-0 on May 17. By finishing at the top of Group A with a perfect record of 12 points from four matches, the team demonstrated their tactical superiority in Narayanpur.

The momentum began immediately as Mebanlamlynti Masharing scored a header off an Imeral Jana corner just three minutes into the game. Meghalaya maintained consistent pressure, leading to a second goal in the 17th minute when Ryan Gibbs Kharnaior utilized space in the box to strike a left-footed shot past the goalkeeper. Phermanbha Lyngdoh solidified the lead by netting the third goal in the 38th minute, effectively deciding the outcome before the half-time whistle.

Throughout the group stage, Meghalaya showcased an impressive offensive and defensive performance, recording victories against Bihar, Jharkhand, and Andhra Pradesh. The squad concluded the opening phase with 19 goals scored and only two conceded.
