Meghalaya’s Sanfida Nongrum Earns Praise After India’s SAFF Football Victory

Shillong: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma has congratulated the Indian women’s football team for winning the SAFF Women’s Championship. The victory over Bangladesh marks the first time in seven years that India has secured the regional title.

The Chief Minister specifically highlighted the performance of Meghalaya footballer Sanfida Nongrum, who played a key role in the final match. Nongrum scored a goal during the championship decider and earned the Most Valuable Player award for the tournament. Sangma expressed his pride in her achievements and her contribution to the national team's success.

Sharing his enthusiasm on social media, Sangma celebrated the team's return to form. "The #BlueTigresses bring the SAFF Women’s Championship trophy back home after 7 years! A phenomenal game against Bangladesh. Congratulations Team India!" he wrote.
