Shillong: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma greeted Genal R. Marak at Guwahati's Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport on May 23. The arrival marked the end of a traumatic experience for Marak, who had been stranded in Jammu and Kashmir. The Chief Minister described the reunion as an emotional occasion and reaffirmed his government's commitment to the safety of all state citizens.

The successful rescue operation began after a distress call reached the 1971 CM CONNECT helpline. Sangma credited this system for providing the necessary intervention to secure the resident's safe return. Since its implementation, the helpline has served as a vital resource for residents facing emergency situations. Following the safe homecoming, the Chief Minister praised the response team and the helpline staff for their decisive and swift work.
