Meghalaya High Court Issues Notice to St. Edmund’s Principal Over Student Admission

Shillong: The High Court of Meghalaya issued a notice to Bro Solomon Morris, the principal of St. Edmund’s School, following a contempt petition filed by Deepali Patel. The petition alleges that the school failed to follow a court order issued on May 22, 2026, which mandated the restoration of her son’s admission.

During the hearing before Justice Wanlura Diengdoh, counsel S. Deb argued that the school's non-compliance warrants judicial intervention. Advocate S. Chanda, representing the principal, accepted the notice and requested additional time to file the required documentation. The court granted the request and scheduled the next hearing for one week later.

Sources indicate that the school administration is currently considering an appeal against the original High Court judgment by taking the matter to a Division Bench.
