Shillong: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma gave a shout-out to singer-composer Jasleen Royal this week. Her latest track, Inaam, just cracked India’s Top 15. The win marks a major shift for women in the industry. Sangma celebrated the news on X, noting that Royal remains the only solo female artist with three tracks in the country’s Top 150.

The song serves as a calling card for the state. Royal debuted the music video at the Cherry Blossom Festival, capturing the event's scale and the region's raw beauty. "Inaam reflects the state's growing stature as a global destination for music and tourism," Sangma said.

Royal keeps coming back to Meghalaya. She took the stage at the Cherry Blossom Festival in both 2024 and 2025. Her profile is skyrocketing. She recently performed as an opening act for Coldplay during their Indian tour dates, locking in her status as a top-tier independent musician.
