Medziphema Officials Issue Pork Slaughter Restrictions

Kohima: Officials in the Medziphema Sub-Division issued a strict directive on May 20 to regulate the slaughter and sale of pigs and pork products within the region. The order comes as a precautionary measure while the local government awaits laboratory test results for African Swine Fever.

The regulation aims to manage the movement and handling of livestock to prevent the potential spread of the virus. Authorities have not yet confirmed an outbreak but are implementing these controls to protect the local pig population until diagnostic testing is complete.
