Kohima: Tikvah Healthcare Private Limited partnered with Amrita Hospital to host a multi-specialty medical camp at the Dimapur Lotha Baptist Church this past Thursday. The event drew more than 350 patients who received consultations from a team of five super-specialists, covering fields including gastroenterology, neurosurgery, medical oncology, orthopedics, and nephrology. Dentists from the local Dimapur Dental Clinic also participated to offer oral healthcare services.
Director of Tikvah Healthcare, Benthungo Kithan, explained that the initiative aims to provide accessible and affordable medical care. The camp utilized advanced diagnostic tools, including ultrasound and FibroScan technology for liver assessments, supported by equipment from Samsung and Fourrts India Laboratories. Kithan stated that the event is part of the company's annual corporate social responsibility efforts, which began with an inaugural camp at the Civil Secretariat earlier this year.
Beyond clinical consultations, the program featured an awareness session focused on long-term health. Dr. Vidit Kapoor, a medical oncologist, led a discussion on cancer prevention, specifically warning that tobacco use accounts for nearly 90 percent of lung, head, and neck cancers. He outlined critical warning signs of the disease and encouraged proactive screening. Other experts contributed to the session as well, with Dr. Urmila Anandh providing guidance on early kidney disease detection and Dr. Anandh Balasubramaniam addressing issues related to strokes.
