Imphal: A resident of Konsakhul village in Manipur suffered injuries during an alleged ambush on Sunday morning. The incident occurred around 10 am as three villagers worked to repair a local water source that supplies their community.
According to the Foothills Naga Coordination Committee, two other villagers escaped the attack by fleeing into the surrounding forest and eventually returning home safely. FNCC convenor N.G. Akhiu identified the attackers as members of the Kuki National Front-Presidential, though these allegations remain unverified and the organization has not yet responded to the claims.
Akhiu condemned the assault as a dangerous act of violence against civilians performing essential community tasks. He voiced concerns regarding the security of residents living in foothill regions and requested immediate government intervention. The committee is calling for a comprehensive investigation into the incident and demanding that authorities hold those responsible accountable.
