Manipur Social Welfare Department Honors HSLC Achievers from Special Schools

Imphal: The Department of Social Welfare in Manipur recently hosted a ceremony at the Ideal Blind School in Takyel to honor ten students who passed the 2026 HSLC examination. The event recognized academic achievements from pupils representing the Ideal Blind School and the Government Deaf and Mute School.

Director of Social Welfare Sheikh Abdul Hakim attended the event alongside Deputy Director L. Dhaneshwor Singh, teachers, and families. Addressing the group, Director Hakim praised the students for their hard work and promised future institutional growth. He stated, "efforts would be made to upgrade Ideal Blind School, Takyel, to the higher secondary level by introducing Classes XI and XII."

Successful candidates from the Government Deaf and Mute School included Laishram Athoi Meitei, Laishram Khambaton Singh, Rizat N, Sogaklung Pamei, Sukur, Kwairakpam Sanjita Devi, and Leireine. The honorees from the Ideal Blind School were Anoubam Michael Sharma, Md. Sakil Ahamad, and Sarangthem Basan Meitei.

Officials noted that the planned expansion to higher secondary education aims to improve accessibility for students with disabilities. By offering classes at the same location, the department hopes to decrease dropout rates and provide a more consistent, supportive learning path for these graduates.
