Imphal: Security forces hauled in a major drug bust at the T. Khullen Naka Checkpoint in Manipur. They caught two suspects on June 29 with 530 grams of suspected brown sugar. The bust happened at 8:00 a.m. during a routine stop.

A joint team from Senapati Police, local women police, and two CRPF battalions worked the operation. They stopped a Tata Yodha pickup and tore the vehicle apart. Inside, they found 42 soap cases stuffed with the contraband. The total weight hit 530 grams including the plastic casings.

Police booked 45-year-old Helkho Kipgen and 40-year-old Hatneilhing Kipgen. Both suspects live in Kangpokpi district. Officers seized the Tata Yodha, a stack of cash, and mobile phones from the scene. A case has been registered at Senapati Police Station. The department is now digging into the supply chain to find out where the drugs came from and who else is pulling the strings.

Outside of the narcotics sweep, the department handled smaller duties. Officers tracked down two missing smartphones reported via General Diary entries. They returned an Oppo A5 and a Nothing 2a 5G to their owners. The recovery "reflects the police’s continued efforts to assist the public alongside their law enforcement duties."
