Manipur Security Forces Arrest Three Militants in Targeted Operations

Imphal: Security forces arrested three individuals suspected of militant activity during separate operations across Manipur on June 1, 2026. Two of the suspects are allegedly linked to extortion schemes run by the proscribed RPF/PLA outfit.

Authorities identified the men as 49-year-old M. Arun Singh and 30-year-old Th. Surankumar Singh. Officers apprehended Arun Singh near a community hall at Top Awang Leikai, while Surankumar Singh was taken into custody at Top Makha Leikai. Both men were operating within the Imphal East district under the jurisdiction of the Porompat Police Station.

In a separate incident on the same day, Manipur Police arrested 38-year-old B. Sana Sharma at the office complex of CDO Imphal West. Officials identified Sharma as an active cadre of the banned KYKL organization. Police confirmed that investigations into all three arrests are ongoing.
